It seems I have been on a 8 month hiatus… that is what having another baby will do to you!! I’m now the proud mama of 2 kids. Eli will be 2 in September and Cora Jane, born Valentine’s Day ’08 (9 days late!!) is 5 1/2 months old.
Business is chugging along and I’m proud to announce that Eli’s Lids will be launching some adorable tee shirts next month.
Now if I can just figure out how to add pictures…
Getting Product…
I had always planned to partner up with a charity, and donate a percentage of my profits to their cause. I think I have finally found the perfect charity! They work to help kids with autism get all the therapy they need. They have an amazing heart for what they do, and they REALLY do help the families they work with. When things are finalized I will reveal exactly who they are and what they do.
I’m Legal!!!
I got the dreaded signature and it was much easier than I thought it would be. The landlord was very nice… even sweet. Then I made my fourth trek to the city to get everything paid for and turned in. I even got to answer a question with “I own my own business.” That was monumental for me. So if anyone out there needs help starting a business feel free to ask me questions and I’ll help… I may ever write a book about it 🙂

The Beginning…
I may not know whether I’ll get the signature, but I do know that I make some pretty awesome hats for little boys!
More to come about my climb to fame… or at least my successful (or not) plee to the slum… I mean… landlord.

Suzie’s Wedding…
Just in case you haven’t noticed… this is the heart of the 70s!! I love the long hair.
FYI The one on the far right is our dentist.
The mysterious mustache man 2nd to the right is my dad.
Next to him, 3rd from the right is my parent’s lawyer.
This is the church I was raised in… I can still remember the smell…
Add you wedding to the linky on Eli’s Lids!!!
Betty Rose’s Wedding…

Rick & Betty
December 12, 1951
We were married in the chapel of a big Presbyterian Church in Lubbock, Texas and it was just the way we planned. It was later in the evening on a Monday night (only in California do you have to get married on the weekends!). Our reception was at my home. Mother and friends did a great job. it was my parent’s silver wedding anniversary, therefore I selected blue and silver for my colors. I made my dress as well as my maid of honor’s dress and my mother’s dress. Rick was a senior at Texas Tech and planned to do post-graduate work. He was a professional student I’m sure! We stayed our first night together in Lubbock. Rick could only get a room with two beds– what a shock that was for me when we arrived! But, as you can tell we didn’t care. Rick was in school and our parents didn’t have a lot of money, we were very frugal. We traveled to Houston to our apartment, Rick took off a semester. Before it was time to go back to school I was “with child,” Suzan, so we lost another semester. It was well worth it!! So Rick was back in school and doing well and we had our baby. Rick and I both worked and my mother cared for Suzie.
Now remember, Rick was a senior when we married and before he left Tech I had three babies (Suzan, Richard & Janet). On the third pregnancy we bought a little TV!!
When the third baby was born we moved to California. Rick had a wonderful job so he came first to get money for me to come. Although the company paid my expenses. Within a week we found our first home in La Mirada for a $250.00 down payment, which Rick’s parents loaned us. Then we were so comfortable that we had baby #4 (Kathleen).
Again, remember Rick and I were only children and what a big family we have now (4 kids, 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren).
